In an article on forbes.com titled, Empathy as a Workplace Superpower, the author, Jason Richmond, notes the importance of leaders showing empathy to their team members.
In this series, Jason’s second suggestion is to not just pay lip service.
Empathy goes further than just acknowledging someone’s pain. When possible, take tangible action to support any team member who may be struggling.
James 2:15 teaches, “If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that?”
On several occasions, Kathy and I have secured help for team members in need. As good shepherds, empathy sometimes means providing financial, emotional, or spiritual support.
