Leadership expert, Holly Moore, shared with me that one of the ways to improve team communication is for us individually to become more self-aware. When we speak, for us it naturally feels like we communicated clearly and properly.

But that is not always the case for those on the receiving end.

Holly recommends that it can be valuable to periodically ask multiple teammates this profound question, “What is it like to be on the other end of my communication?”

You may learn that your tone, body language, or style comes across differently than what you desire.

James 1:19 says, “Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry.”

A first step towards improving communication is to learn how you are being received by others.
