When the King of Kings was born it wasn’t in a royal palace. The announcement wasn’t first made to the King’s court. Surprisingly, the announcement was first made to the nearby shepherds.
Many assumed that the Messiah would be born with great fanfare in a royal setting. Instead, God made His important announcement to on-duty shepherds.
In Matthew 2:6, we read a prophecy about Jesus, “‘But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; for out of you will come a ruler who will shepherd my people Israel.”
Jesus is the Good Shepherd. God blessed the shepherds of the day as the first to know.
God shared His good news in the workplace first, not with the royalty of the day.
