This week we’re talking about seeking God first. Establishing and maintaining proper priorities is a critical first step.
When I began a biblically-centered consulting practice, I knew God had called me to that work. Therefore, in my mind, putting God first meant keeping that business alive, regardless of cost.
My wife viewed the business as my mistress, but I stubbornly put the business needs before everything else. Eventually, my circumstances became so dire that I finally listened to God and my wife. Fortunately, they forgave me.
1 Timothy 5:8 reveals, “Anyone who does not provide for their relatives, and especially for their own household, has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.”
God desires a relationship with us first, then to love and serve our family. Our work or ministry comes last.
