A Harvard Business Review article entitled, “Where Religious Identity Fits into Your DEI Strategy” provides seven practices to help companies embrace religious diversity. Their fourth recommended practice is to know the law.

Many are fearful of religious activity in the workplace due to a misunderstanding of the law. The so-called “separation of church and state” argument is often misunderstood and used inappropriately for avoiding religious diversity.

However, the law is clear that it’s legal for employees to bring their faith to work.

1 Peter 3:15 teaches, “Be prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect.”

Don’t let a misunderstanding of the law deprive your employees of their religious identity.
