While driving to the office for a Zoom meeting that included my wife, a car in front of me on the highway spun out of control. She bounced into my car crushing my rear door.
As a State Trooper approached my car, I realized I wasn’t going to make my meeting. Without much forethought, I texted my wife the following message: “I was in a wreck. I’m not going to make it.”
Without context, my wife feared the worst for the next 45 minutes while I addressed the State Trooper’s questions.
Proverbs 12:18 teaches, “There is one whose rash words are like sword thrusts, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.”
Delivering rapid and brief messages can cause confusion. Pause and consider how the end user will perceive your message.
