Recently, I met with a retired businessman. While discussing his future this man shared, “I’ve made enough money to care for my wife and I, my kids, and my grandkids for their lifetime.”
He continued, “God’s made it clear that He wants me to give away my excess to advance God’s kingdom.”
Jesus told a parable about a rich man who built bigger barns to hoard his wealth. Jesus said in Luke 12, “‘You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’ This is how it will be with whoever stores up things for themselves but is not rich toward God.”
If God has blessed you, prepare for your eternal future; increase your giving, not your hoarding.
