Mark had a $3,600 credit card bill that was turned over to a collection agency. Mark feared calling the collector due to their ruthless reputation. His mind raced with worries of the bank seizing his business.

After listening, I realized Mark needed some reality and hope. We developed a plan for debt repayment. Then I urged Mark to stop worrying and call the collector to begin a dialogue for loan repayment.

Jesus taught in Matthew 5:31, “So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.”

The perils of debt bring many fears, but our time’s better spent on implementing a plan, not worrying.
