When leading people into a new place, I always want to know if the direction we’re going makes sense and is affirmed. This does two things:

  • It confirms to me, and them, that this is God’s path for this time, and
  • It gets their buy-in and allows me to hold them accountable for the direction we’ve agreed to take.

2 Timothy 2:2 teaches, “You have heard me teach things that have been confirmed by many reliable witnesses. Now teach these truths to other trustworthy people who will be able to pass them on to others.”
This pattern of leading, teaching, and passing the torch to those who will pass the torch later needs to be embedded into the fiber of who we are if we’re to continue for many generations.
