In the Kendrick Brothers new movie, The Forge, a young man named Isaiah is mentored by his new boss. Early in the movie, Isaiah’s boss notes that Isaiah doesn’t know how to properly shake hands.

Later, the CEO teaches Isaiah to shake hands firmly while looking his new acquaintance in the eyes. Many employers express a growing concern that many young hires don’t have the soft skills necessary to prosper in business.

Proverbs 22:6 says, “Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.”

For a variety of reasons there seems to be a need to teach soft skills to the next generation. If you’re an employer, I’d suggest considering building soft skills training into your onboarding.
