In business, there are many opportunities to lie or cut corners to try and make more money. Sales people sell features that don’t really exist, or production people shortchange quality in pursuit of profits.
In Acts 5, Ananias sold some property to provide funds for the community treasury. But, he decided to lie about how much he received so that he could keep a portion and still get accolades for his generosity. But his lie resulted in his death.
In Acts 5:4 Peter said to Ananias, “Why is it that you have conceived this deed in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God.”
As a follower of Jesus, it’s important to remember that you can’t lie to God. You will get caught 100% of the time.
