For many people the last thing they want to celebrate is their labor. A Gallup poll revealed that 70% of people surveyed are disengaged with their work. Labor Day celebrations are more likely to commemorate the day off than for the value of our work.
God created Adam specifically with a purpose to work to God’s glory. In Genesis 1 we read, “Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”
This Labor Day, consider helping those who are disenchanted with their work by reminding them about God’s design for work.
