Two of the most limiting words for me in the past have been “I’m not…” I’m not good at fixing things or I’m not good at sales. These phrases usually come from past mistakes or a time when others have been critical.
Unfortunately, when we grab on to the “I’m not…” phrases, it becomes self-perpetuating. If I think I’m not a good handyman, I will likely never try to improve.
In Mark 9, the father of an epileptic son had doubts that Jesus could heal his son. When Jesus pointed out his unbelief, Jesus said in verse 23, “Everything is possible for one who believes.”
If you are allowing the “I’m not…” phrases to hinder your career, overcome your unbelief by beginning to replace “I’m not’s” with “I am becoming…”
