Years ago, a banking customer of mine owned a chain of three retail stores. The owner assigned each of his two sons one store to manage while his third store was assigned to Ron, a close friend of his sons.
By far, the best managed store was the one led by Ron. I recommended that the owner leverage Ron’s skill to improve the other two stores.
Ron’s wisdom and diligence improved all three stores and resulted in Ron becoming part owner in the business, while one incapable son was forced out.
Proverbs 17:2 says, “A servant who deals wisely will rule over a son who acts shamefully and will share the inheritance as one of the brothers.”
Wisdom and hard work can have a better result than even being related.
