Listen to the latest 60 second episode of Integrity Moments with Rick Boxx
Integrity Moments is a 60 second workday devotional that provides business leaders with helpful insight into what the Bible says about our work and how we can fully integrate our faith into our vocational calling.

William Arthur Ward, poet of the early 20th century said, “Blessed is he who has learned to admire but not envy, to follow but not imitate, to praise but not flatter, and to lead but not manipulate.”

When the line is crossed from admiration to envy, there is a shift in the heart. It is a shift of heart posture. Admiration desires the best for others. Envy hopes for failure for the one succeeding. Envy is fixated on a self-deflating mentality.

James 3:16 says, “For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder and every vile practice.”

James helps the readers understand that envy will always lead to one’s own disorder. The heart of the believer may be turned toward “vile practices” instead of walking in truth.
