A new friend shared with me how his broadcasting business during the 2009 recession took an unconventional approach to slashing payroll. They decided to retain all employees by cutting their staff’s pay, but they chose not to cut anyone’s pay who made less than $30,000 a year.
What surprised management, however, was that many of these lower paid employees asked if they could participate in the pay cuts, too!
Since compassion permeated the culture of this business, their staff willingly made sacrifices for the good of all, resulting in a rapid recovery.
Colossians 3:12 teaches, “So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion.”
Care for your people and they will likely care for you when you most need it.
