My wife, Kathy, and a young lady recently discussed following up a job interview with a thank you email. This young lady blurted, “I would never do that! It shows you’re desperate for a job!”
Kathy and I were stunned. If someone takes the time to interview you, and you want the job, it seems respectful and prudent to thank them for their time.
I was surprised, however, to learn that some companies instruct their employees to delete any thank you emails received from interviewees.
1 Peter 2:17 teaches, “Show proper respect to everyone, love the family of believers, fear God, honor the emperor.”
Time is our most valuable commodity. If someone invested their time in you, show them the respect of a “thank you,” even if they delete it.
