Trust is the backbone of a strong team. When trust has been undermined, it not only harms that relationship, but it also can harm the cohesiveness of a team and the team’s effectiveness.

Oxford Languages says that “trust” is “the firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability, or strength of someone or something.” If you distrust someone, it’s most likely that they also have lost trust in you as well.

1 Corinthians 4:2 teaches, “Now it is required that those who have been given a trust must prove faithful.”

To begin rebuilding trust, ask your team to privately rate how much they trust each person individually. For anyone given a low score, encourage that team member to begin to better understand their teammate and then to address any past transgressions together.
