In his book, “Life is Hard. God is Good. Let’s Dance.,” Brant Hansen compares worrying about our situation to the gyrating and dancing that some bowlers do after the ball leaves their hands. No matter how hard they move or flex, their actions have absolutely no impact on the ball rolling toward the pins.

When we realize how little impact our worry has on our work, we can choose a better approach to the stress in our jobs.

Paul instructed the Philippians: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” (Philippians 4:6)

When you are tempted to lose sleep over some aspect of work, step away from the bowling alley and lay your petition before God.
