Listen to the latest 60 second episode of Integrity Moments with Rick Boxx
As a young employee in my first corporate job, I quickly learned that executives were powerful people to be feared and followed. One executive in particular, a former Navy officer, commanded authority. He knew his stuff and expected respect.
But that image completely fell away when I walked into a classroom one evening to take a class on boating safety. There was this same executive, dressed casually, even comically, looking like he was helming a yacht, not a Navy destroyer. He was friendly, funny, and joyous talking about his personal interest in boating.
Ecclesiastes 8:1 says, “A person’s wisdom brightens their face and changes its hard appearance.”
As leaders, finding the joy in what we do can help draw others to our work and our faith.
