Students for Fair Admissions sued Harvard due to their belief that Harvard’s student screening process has discriminated against Asian Americans. The Supreme Court is reviewing the case.

Harvard’s desire to give African Americans and Latinos a better chance in society may have been noble, but it has left Asian Americans applicants feeling discriminated against. Favoritism is now being given to the disadvantaged at the expense of others.

James 2 gives us some guidance when it says, “If you really keep the royal law found in Scripture, “Love your neighbor as yourself,” you are doing right. But if you show favoritism, you sin and are convicted by the law as lawbreakers.”

In my opinion, loving all neighbors, and not showing favoritism to anyone, needs to be part of the long-term solution.
