In the book of Revelation, Jesus gave performance reviews to seven churches. In the third section of the letters, Jesus identified corrections needed and potential consequences.
Jesus demanded they repent from their inappropriate actions, and shared what the consequences might be.
There are times that our employees act badly or engage in activity that is harmful. This needs to be addressed clearly with defined consequences.
Jesus told the church of Ephesus in Revelation 2:5, “Repent, and do the works you did at first. Otherwise, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place.”
The goal for performance reviews should be to help your employee become the best they can be. That requires being clear on any behavior issues, as well as the possible consequences if they don’t change.
