Constant reorganizations were one of the biggest drawbacks of working for large organizations. Every year, about September, the budget process would begin. Rumors about the expected casualties would start. This process would extend for months before the actual staff reductions, paralyzing most employees for much of that time.
The reorganization process usually brought many closed door meetings, deception, and outright lies. The goal seemed to be keeping employees working, more than showing them the respect and dignity they deserved. The lying and deception seemed to reveal a lack of regard for the employees.
Proverbs 26:28 teaches, “A lying tongue hates those it hurts, and a flattering mouth works ruin.” If you are considering reorganization think carefully about how to best show your staff dignity. Lying doesn’t help, it hurts.
