For years, a friend of mine went every Tuesday evening to a specific bakery to collect their leftover bread. He delivered the bread to a homeless shelter for their breakfast the next day.

This bakery could have marked down the price of the bread and sold it the next day. But, rather than squeeze every dollar of profit out of their work, they chose to care for others by providing for the homeless.

In Leviticus 19:10, God told the Israelites, “Nor shall you glean your vineyard, nor shall you gather the fallen fruit of your vineyard; you shall leave them for the needy and for the stranger. I am the Lord your God.”

If you’re in business, look for creative ways to leave enough margin to help the marginalized.
