Cornell professor, Vanessa Bohns, researched 15,000 requests for help to determine how to improve the odds of obtaining a “yes” to our requests. Bohns discovered that those who asked for help received help twice as often as they initially expected.
In a Wall Street Journal article, Bohns concluded that her results should give us more confidence in asking without feeling the need to ask for less than what we really want.
Jesus told a parable about a persistent widow. In Luke 18:4-5, we read, “But finally (the judge) said to himself, ‘Even though I don’t fear God or care what people think, yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice.”
Jesus encouraged His disciples to ask boldly and confidently. We should as well.
