One of my favorite undergraduate university classes was Introduction to Astronomy, taught by Dr. James Van Allen. Van Allen was by then a world-famous astronomer, featured on the cover of Time magazine, and for whom the earth’s Van Allen radiation belts are named. Yet this learned man loved to teach undergraduates to share his passion for space science.
Paul took the same approach, subjecting his will and his expertise for his passion of drawing people to Christ.
“To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some.” (1 Corinthians 9:22)
We serve God and our colleagues when we represent not our expertise, but the greater message of Jesus.
