The 2026 release of the Trust Index by the Barna research organization added the category of “Christian Business” for the first time. Respondents gave Christian Business a score of 56 on the 100-point trust scale, one point below Christian Churches.
However, “Local Business” rated nine points higher than “Christian Business.” In other words, being local was a bigger determinant of trust than being Christian.
1 Corinthians 4:1-2 says, “This, then, is how you ought to regard us: as servants of Christ and as those entrusted with the mysteries God has revealed. Now it is required that those who have been given a trust must prove faithful.”
As Christian business leaders, we must be vigilant that we are living out our faith at work in a trustworthy manner.
