The Industrial Revolution’s technology, rather than eliminating jobs, created jobs for railroads and related industries that dramatically increased labor demands. This led to abuse and overwork, not leisure, as some expected.
In 1894, the Labor Day holiday became a response to that abuse and overwork. The laborers demanded a day to rest and celebrate their hard work.
James 5:4 warns employers, “The wages you failed to pay the workers who mowed your fields are crying out against you. The cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord Almighty.”
I believe AI will be like the Industrial Revolution. Rather than eliminate jobs, it will increase and shift jobs to entirely new industries. When that happens, let’s not follow the railroad barons’ example of abusing and overworking our laborers.
