Florence Chadwick’s 1952 effort to swim from Catalina Island to the California coast is a favorite motivational story.
The day was so foggy she could barely see the boats that accompanied her. Exhausted after swimming for more than 15 hours, unable to see her destination, she gave up.
She learned later that she was less than half a mile from the coast.
She told reporters, “All I could see was the fog… I think if I could have seen the shore, I would have made it.”
When the blind man asked Jesus to restore his sight, Jesus responded “Receive your sight; your faith has healed you.” (Luke 18:42)
When God calls you to something at work, have faith in his guidance, even if the destination isn’t clear to you.
