As a young banker, I learned a lot about leadership by watching the many different styles of bank presidents I observed. In my role doing bank examinations at that time, I interacted with a lot of front-line people like tellers and loan clerks.
The reactions and interactions these people had with the bank president were typically a truer reflection of the president’s leadership abilities. This was often significantly different than what the corporate office perceived.
Proverbs 24:32 says, “I applied my heart to what I observed and learned a lesson from what I saw.”
Identifying the different leadership styles I encountered, and the good and bad lessons learned from each, may prove valuable to you. Join me in this series as I highlight a few leaders and lessons learned.
