The holiday season is a time in which we need to watch carefully for signs of isolation or loneliness in our teammates. Loneliness is associated with higher risks of heart disease, stroke, anxiety, depression and dementia.
Three out of four people report moderate to high levels of loneliness.
Recently, an American Bible Society survey discovered that only 11% of people who engage with the Bible on a regular basis have a high level of loneliness. But those who aren’t engaged with the Bible experienced double that level of loneliness.
In Psalm 119:28, the psalmist writes, “I am weary from grief; strengthen me through your word.”
When relationally appropriate, encouraging struggling teammates to engage with the Bible will not only help them, it will make for a healthier workplace as well.
