Recently, I provided counsel to Jeff who is trying to dissolve a partnership that has soured. Jeff’s partner has broken laws, violated Jeff’s trust, and created financial chaos in their shared business.
One of Jeff’s options includes signing a new agreement with Jeff’s partner. However, there is legitimate concern about signing an agreement with someone who has already proven untrustworthy.
Proverbs 25:19 says, “Like a broken tooth or a lame foot is reliance on the unfaithful in a time of trouble.”
Many times, when there are no good options, you must choose between the lesser of the evils. However, when negotiating with untrustworthy people don’t overlook the danger of contracting with someone who has already violated your last agreement.
Unfortunately, there are times when legal action is the best remedy.
