According to a recent Wall Street Journal article, JPMorgan and Bank of America are trying to “fix” the issue of investment bankers’ excessive hours. By capping these young bankers to 80 hours a week, think about the message these banks have sent.
Basically, they’re saying, “We hear you have a problem with working so many hours, so we’ll cap them at only 11.5 hours a day for seven days a week.”
God designed our bodies for one day a week of rest. In Exodus 31:15 God said, “For six days work is to be done, but the seventh day is a day of sabbath rest, holy to the Lord.”
If you truly care about your people, I think setting the bar lower than eighty hours a week may be wise.
