There have been seasons when I’ve been so busy serving God that I haven’t had time to listen to God. Like many leaders I can obsess about tasks or performance, thinking I’m doing what God desires.
But what if God had a different agenda for me that day, and I didn’t stop to ask?
Times like this remind me of Martha. She was so busy serving Jesus that she had no time to be with Jesus. Jesus told Martha in Luke 11, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and bothered about so many things; but only one thing is necessary, for Mary has chosen the good part.”
Jesus said that only one thing matters – being with Him. We still need to serve God, but our workday ought to begin with simply being with God.
