Author, Bob Shank, shared his thoughts on succession planning with a group of Kansas City leaders recently. Bob stated that our choices include lingering, committing larceny, or leaving a legacy.

Today let’s discuss larceny. One of the FBI definitions for larceny is, “the stealing of any property or article that is not taken by force and violence or by fraud.”

Bob Shank’s point about larceny was that some leaders continue in their leadership positions beyond lingering years after their usefulness. They waste company resources, often due to their need for money or control.

Romans 2:21 says, “You, then, who teach others, do you not teach yourself? You who preach against stealing, do you steal?”

By using an organization’s resources without adding value is larceny and not pleasing to God.
