The television program “60 Minutes” convened a group of 12 people in Grand Rapids Michigan during the last presidential campaign, with an even mix of people for and against Donald Trump. This group had very heated debates and disagreements.

“60 Minutes” was surprised to learn that despite their differences the group not only maintained contact after the focus group, they also developed ongoing discussion and relationships.

Although the individuals still hold firmly to their beliefs on Donald Trump, they discovered that by sincerely listening to each other, they learned mutual respect despite their vast disagreements.

James 1:19 teaches, “Everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger.”

Politics recently have caused division in many workplaces. Being willing to listen and understand can bring needed mutual respect.
