Charles Murphy, an investment banker in New York City, recently leaped from the 24th floor of a hotel to his death. According to the Wall Street Journal, Murphy was worth tens of millions of dollars, and, made millions each year.
Yet, according to his friends, Murphy was frequently concerned about not having enough money.
The measuring stick we use is personal and potentially damaging. Murphy’s inability to “measure up” tragically took its toll.
Psalm 42:5 says, “Why are you in despair, O my soul? And why have you become disturbed within me? Hope in God, for I shall again praise Him for the help of His presence.”
If you are in despair because your work isn’t going according to your measuring stick, hope in God, and seek His measuring stick.
