A study reported in the Journal for the Scientific Study of Religion found four important ways in which those interviewed feel “called to work:”

  • As an opportunity to use gifts and opportunities provided by God;
  • As a chance to share or model one’s faith;
  • Through producing goods or services that benefit society, and
  • As a means to a higher calling by providing resources to serve others.

The motivations behind why people desire to integrate their faith and work are multifaceted.

Ephesians 4:1 teaches, “I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called.”

When people grow in their faith, they realize their faith has many dimensions, with each dimension adding value to the Kingdom of God.
