My friend, Mike, was out of town when he received a call on a Saturday from a local utility company. Mike needed to find someone to let the repairman in to his office.
Mike called a young employee and asked him to let the repairman into the business. Mike was shocked when this young employee said, “I don’t work on Saturday’s. Find someone else.”
Mike, and many older leaders, embrace a work ethic similar to Paul in 2 Thessalonians 3, which says, “We worked night and day, laboring and toiling so that we would not be a burden to any of you. … in order to offer ourselves as a model for you to imitate.”
This nation’s work ethic is changing. Communicating expectations upfront is critical, especially with different generations.
