Since December is the biggest giving month of the year, let’s discuss being a Giver this week, using that word as an acronym. The letter V stands for Virtuous.
As Christians, we need to be virtuous with our choices of charitable giving.
An acquaintance of mine once felt called to give away millions of dollars. Although he funded a lot of notable causes, he also began giving to almost anyone who asked, reputable or not.
This resulted in many people receiving funds that didn’t help them or the Kingdom of God.
1 Corinthians 4:2 teaches, “In this case, moreover, it is required of stewards that one be found trustworthy.”
Many organizations are charitable to their communities. A good steward, however, is virtuous in selecting to whom they give.
