When you combine my love of new ideas with my desire to please others, it can lead to more complexity than necessary. I was guilty of that with this year’s Summit conference.
Because we hosted Thursday and Friday activities there were more pricing variables than usual. Before long we had individual prices, group prices, early bird discounts, and many other options.
The customer experience became too complex.
Some Jewish leaders tried to trap Jesus when they asked which law was the greatest. In Matthew 22:37, Jesus brilliantly replied, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.”
He simplified all 613 laws into one.
In business, when your processes become complicated, look for the simplest approach. I will next time.
