Recently, I asked my friend, Steve, about the rising number of airplane crashes. As a pilot for over 40 years, Steve had an interesting perspective.
“The beauty of the air travel process,” Steve said, “is that every aspect has standard operating procedures. There’s a detailed process for each step. Most pilots and air traffic personnel know that if they deviate from these procedures, their actions will risk lives.”
Then, Steve said, “God gave us all standard operating procedures that need to be obeyed.”
Psalm 119:4 says, “You have laid down precepts that are to be fully obeyed. Oh, that my ways were steadfast in obeying your decrees!”
When you think you know better than God’s Word, and choose to deviate from it, consequences for you and your work are likely.
