My wife, Kathy, regularly calls business leaders asking how our team can best pray for them. Over the last year, Kathy has noticed one common request.
They often ask for prayers for their adult children. Many speak of children who have “ghosted them” due to political or social disagreements.
When Kathy delicately probes about the underlying issue, most share one common refrain: Social Media. Many people are receiving a fire hose of lies and deception from social media algorithms.
Psalm 101:7 says, “No one who acts deceitfully will live in my palace; the one who tells lies will not be retained here to guide me.”
For the welfare of our families and workplaces, let’s pray that we all have the discernment and courage to eliminate any lies on our phone.
We believe this social media blight is destroying relationships and impacting the workplace. That’s why UBN, along with many churches and ministries, are sponsoring a citywide digital fast this summer in our community. We hope to help reset the way we use our phones in a healthy and God honoring way.
