As an employer, the story of Achan’s sin in the book of Joshua has troubled me. Joshua didn’t know that one of his soldiers had violated God’s command, yet Joshua suffered the loss of thirty-six men in battle because of Achan.
All Israel suffered for one man’s sin. But God didn’t punish Israel, He withdrew His favor.
Joshua 7:12 says, “That is why the Israelites cannot stand against their enemies; they turn their backs and run because they have been made liable to destruction. I will not be with you anymore unless you destroy whatever among you is devoted to destruction.”
God allowed Israel to go to battle without His favor, until they addressed Achan’s sin. If you have sin in your camp, you may be fighting your battles alone.
