Tom Thibodeaux, a professor at Viterbo University, discussed servant leadership at a conference I participated in recently. Although he had many profound things to say, the one that stood out to me the most was this quote, “Service is love becoming visible.”

In business, we discuss and work on improving our customer service, but few ever equate it to love. Selflessly helping a neighbor fulfill his need is an act of service, but it can also be considered an act of love.

Romans 13:8 teaches, “Owe nothing to anyone except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law.”

The motivations behind your service will lay the foundation for how well service is applied, and, whether or not your customer feels loved and respected.
