Among its leadership lessons, the Old Testament book of Exodus reminds leaders today of the value of seeking God’s strength in our weakness.
When God called him to leadership, Moses immediately began listing his shortcomings, from lack of credibility to poor speech. Yet God assures Moses that God will be with him.
“The Lord said to him, ‘Who gave human beings their mouths? Who makes them deaf or mute? Who gives them sight or makes them blind? Is it not I, the Lord? Now go; I will help you speak and will teach you what to say.’” Exodus 4:11-12.
Fear can be a great impediment to effective leadership. But God promises that those who act in his name will receive his strength.
