Years ago in banking, my administrative assistant grinned when she said, “You’re going to love your next appointment.” Waiting for me in my office was a young man.
When I asked how I could help, he said, “I need to borrow money to buy a Steinway Piano.” I humored him and asked how much a Steinway would cost and how much he needed to borrow.
He said, “I think it might take $300 million and I need to borrow all of it. I’m only 21, I don’t have any money.”
Proverbs 12:11 teaches, “Those who work their land will have abundant food, but those who chase fantasies have no sense.”
There are God-sized goals and then there are fantasies. Spend your time working hard at your job, rather than chasing fantasies.
The Proverbs Challenge:
There are 31 chapters of Proverbs and 31 days in the month of May. Many business leaders have developed a habit of reading Proverbs and have discovered great value to their business life.
This month, I would like to challenge and assist you in making a habit of reading one chapter of Proverbs each day. I have selected a verse from Proverbs each day of this month. In addition to reading this daily devotional, I encourage you to also read or listen to the entire chapter for that day. We will provide a link for you to go to that chapter each day. Enjoy growing in wisdom!
