Listen to the latest 60 second episode of Integrity Moments with Rick Boxx

I was caught off guard the first time I received a financial bonus at my first “real” job. I had never worked for an employer that paid bonuses, so I was surprised to receive a letter from the company president describing a one-time payment in my next paycheck. The amount was small, but the appearance of that extra, unexpected money stirred something in me. As if my fixation on money wasn’t bad enough, now I had additional incentive to see my work primarily as wealth accumulation instead of worship of God and service to others.
Psalm 62:10 states, “…though your riches increase, do not set your heart on them.”
It is a blessing to receive a surprise gift but always remember the God who provided it.
