As the only one in his work group who actively professed his Christian faith, Brendon often felt isolated. He turned to his friends for advice on how to cope. They suggested television networks to watch, websites to visit, and podcasts to follow. He tried their suggestions but quickly realized these media outlets had their own agendas.
Paul wrote: “My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, so that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on God’s power.” (1 Corinthians 2:4-5)
Be cautious of “human wisdom,” filtered through others’ agendas and priorities. We have access to the ultimate source of wisdom when we go directly to God’s word – the Bible – for guidance.
