Listen to the latest 60 second episode of Integrity Moments with Rick Boxx

Working at a utility meant my colleagues and I had to be prepared for all kinds of disasters. To maintain that readiness, our company conducted regular emergency simulations. These drills were stressful by design.
During one drill, I let the stress get to me. When a colleague asked how we might respond to a hypothetical development, I loudly shut him down, telling him we didn’t have time for that. The silence that followed told me I had gone too far.
My actions illustrated Proverbs 29:11: “A fool always loses his temper, but a wise person holds it back.”
Always remember that colleagues are watching to see if our faith makes a difference in our lives, especially when we’re stressed. You can show them you’re not a fool.
